QUIT, EAT & MOVE FOR HEALTH

The B.strong Brief Intervention Program is working to close the 10 year health gap for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Queensland by addressing three key lifestyle factors:

SMOKING CESSATION

NUTRITION

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

The B.strong Brief Intervention Training Program (B.strong) has been developed to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers and other health and community workers to deliver Brief Interventions for smoking cessation, nutrition and physical activity.

From 2017 to 2019, B.strong will give Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers / Practitioners and community workers knowledge, skills and tools to provide Brief Interventions to promote healthy lifestyle changes to their clients. Training will be provided across Queensland in all Hospital and Health Service areas and is available to all practitioners working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients in government operated and community controlled health services.

B.strong training will also be provided to health workers in non-health settings such as schools and correctional facilities.

The B.strong Brief Intervention Training Program is delivered by Menzies School of Health Research and proudly funded by Queensland Health.
